The guiding principle of Family Law is that the interests of the children are paramount. We aim to look at arrangements from the child's perspective and resolve issues through negotiation. The Courts take a non-intervention approach and only make orders concerning children if absolutely necessary.
We can advise on many issues concerning children, including:
• Child maintenance
• Child protection - emergency help
• Parental responsibility
• Changing children's names
• Contact
• Residence
• Child abduction - emergency help
• Adoption proceedings, including step parents
Care Proceedings - disputes over children are not always confined to disputes within a family. Sometimes outside agencies are involved in the care/protection of children. We can advise as to the legal rights of such agencies including any involvement with Social Services whether voluntary or through Court proceedings.
